Tug is one of the best games you can play with your dog: it's interactive, it burns energy in a hallway on a rainy day, and done right it actually builds impulse control ("drop it" is half the game). The Tug Captain is built for exactly that, 20 inches of thick, tightly braided natural cotton with three fat knots, so there's a comfortable grip for your hand and an honest mouthful for theirs, with safe distance in between.

The braid is dense enough to hold its shape through real pulling from medium and large dogs, and the cotton is gentle on gums and teeth in a way that harder tug toys aren't. At around 14 ounces it has enough heft for a satisfying shake-and-thrash session when the tugging is done.

Now the straight talk, because rope toys earn it: this is a supervised-play toy, full stop. Rope strands aren't something any dog should swallow, so the Tug Captain comes out for the game and goes up on the shelf after. Check it before each session and retire it when it frays, a frayed rope had a good career; let it go.
